  • In 4 years, Rs 2,468 lakh spent for expansion of irrigated areas in Ri Bhoi

    Minister in-charge Water Resources Brolding Nongsiej on Monday said Rs 2,468.98 lakh was spent for expansion of irrigated areas in Ri Bhoi from 2018-2022. 

    Of this, Rs 772.029 lakh was spent during 2018-19, Rs 1,038.649 lakh in 2019-20, Rs 91.826 lakh in 2020-21 and Rs 566.476 lakh in 2021-22 while replying to a query raised by AITC MLA from Umroi George B Lyngdoh in the Assembly. 

    This is against the amount received at Rs 772.029 lakh in 2018-19, Rs 1,086.674 lakh in 2019-20, Rs 500.00 lakh in 2020-21 and Rs 456.00 lakh in 2021-22, he said.

    The minister informed that the projects taken up under the department during 2018-2022 is 69. 

    Of this, 40 during 2018-19, 1 in 2019-2020, 12 in 2020-21 and 16 in 2021-22, he said.

    He informed that the targeted irrigated areas during 2018-19 is 512.35 Ha, in 2019-20 is 130.99 Ha, in 2020-21 is 50.20 Ha and 2021-22 is 1091.46 Ha. 

    Nongsiej further informed that the total area irrigated during 2018-19 is 478.00 Ha, in 2019-20 is 128.00 Ha, in 2020-21 is 50.20 Ha and 2021-22 is 892.30 Ha.
