IIE Guwahati marks 79th Independence Day, champions spirit of Viksit Bharat

The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) celebrated the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at its Guwahati campus, bringing together staff, trainees, and their families in a tribute to India’s freedom fighters and a reaffirmation of the nation’s vision for a self-reliant, inclusive “Viksit Bharat.”
The ceremony was graced by Dr. Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Chancellor of Nagaland University, as the chief guest. In his address, Dr. Kashyap honoured national icons such as Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lala Lajpat Rai, and Bhagat Singh, while giving special recognition to martyrs from the Northeast—including Maniram Dewan, Kushal Konwar, Kanaklata Barua, Chow Pha Plung Lu Gohain, U Tirot Singh, Bir Tikendrajit, and Lalsuthlaha—whose courage and entrepreneurial spirit continue to inspire generations. He called upon all citizens to nurture entrepreneurship as a pathway to a stronger, self-reliant India.
The programme began with IIE Director Ishwar C. Poojar felicitating the chief guest and hoisting the National Flag. Attendees joined in the singing of the National Anthem, creating a moment of shared pride. In his remarks, Poojar paid homage to the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and expressed gratitude to IIE’s employees for their role in nation-building through entrepreneurship.

Adding to the festivities, IIE organised an art competition for children and a “Tiranga Yatra” in support of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets to children, symbolising the joy and unity of the occasion.
