IGGL achieves 85.35% progress on Northeast Gas Grid, marks milestones at 7th AGM

Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) held its 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday at its registered office in Guwahati under the chairmanship of Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem, in the presence of the Board of Directors and representatives from all five promoter companies—IOCL, ONGC, GAIL, OIL, and NRL.
In his address to shareholders, the Chairman underscored IGGL’s major achievements in implementing the Northeast Gas Grid Project, a project of national importance aimed at establishing reliable natural gas infrastructure across the region. He announced that as of August 31, the project had achieved 85.35% cumulative physical progress, with steady advancements in pipeline laying, station construction, and related facilities.
Among the key milestones, Nettem highlighted the successful completion of the country’s longest Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) river crossing across the Brahmaputra. He also announced the commissioning of IGGL’s first pipeline segment, from Baihata to Bishwanath, marking the company’s formal entry into the operations and maintenance phase.
Expressing gratitude, the Chairman acknowledged the Central government, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), regulatory bodies, state governments of the Northeast, and promoter companies for their continued trust and support. He also commended IGGL’s workforce, contractors, and partners for upholding high safety and quality standards despite operational challenges.
The AGM discussions also focused on the company’s future roadmap—ensuring timely commissioning of the project, strengthening operational readiness, and integrating green energy initiatives to align with India’s vision of a gas-based economy.
Additionally, shareholders approved preparatory steps for financing the proposed Duliajan Feeder Line Project, signalling the company’s expansion plans.
Reaffirming IGGL’s commitment, Nettem said the Northeast Gas Grid will play a pivotal role in promoting industrial growth, expanding access to cleaner energy, and fostering inclusive development, contributing to the realisation of the “One India, One Gas Grid” vision.
