    Peeved with the inability of the Meghalaya Govt to end the garbage issue, the Dorbar Shnong Tympang Iawmusiang, Jowai on Saturday took the extreme steps of going for 36 long hours lockdown from 6 AM of Tuesday to 6 PM of Wednesday within its jurisdiction.

    “We took this extreme step at the end of the three days deadline we give to the Govt to end the issue garbage but till now it persist,” informed the newly Waheh Chnong Ajoy Lywait.

    Ambulances, fire brigades, LPG delivery vans and newspapers will be exempted from purview of the lockdown, he asserted.

    Lywait said that he lodged an FIR at Jowai Police Station on behalf of the Dorbar Shnong against unknown miscreants for dumping garbage in Thomas Jones Road, which was already cleared.

    He also informed that they will monitor the areas around Iawmusiang opposite to Iawshor and Thomas Jones Road to stop throwing of garbage
