HYC shuts down two offices of Amazon courier in Shillong

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Saturday closed down two courier services of the Amazon at Pynthorumkhrah and Nongrim Hills.

Activists of the HYC Mawlai Circle and Shillong City while putting the two courier centre under lock and key alleged that the action was taken after local youths have been terminated by the manager of the company Paresh Sharma.

“Sharma has taken away the jobs of our local youths and give them to his friends,” HYC Mawlai Circle general secretary Bashan L Mawnai said.

He said the offices will remain closed until such time that the manager of the company takes back all local youths.

Meanwhile, the HYC has also warned to take stern action against private companies operating various businesses in the state if they fail to give first preferences to local youths for jobs.
