The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has demanded the state government to cancel its decision to allot seats to non-indigenous students from the state quota for studying at the College of Agriculture, Manipur.

In a statement issued on Saturday, HYC education secretary, Enlang Sawian alleged that two seats from the state quota were allotted to Iftikar Ali Mondal and Ummay Habiba Begum under the Schedule Caste (SC) category.

He was referring to the notice issued by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare on August 28.

“We therefore strongly oppose this decision to allot seats from the state quota to such students, who are not from the indigenous tribes of the state,” Sawian said.

He said the Council also demands the Director of Agriculture to immediately clarify on what ground these two students have been included in the state quota list which was supposed to be reserved only for the students from the Schedule Tribe (ST) category.

Sawian also said that the state government should also clarify as to when the SC and Other Backward Classes (OBC) are eligible to be included in the state quota.

“We further demanded that the Directorate of Research and Training, Technology to immediately remove the names of the two students from the notification issued recently,”he said.

This news must be national News I’m gonna post it and share it to my friends and others I know who live at Northeast and here at Delhi and other states. It’s always a game plan there at Shillong they don’t want Non tribal to take part I anything and point out every problem to non tribal. This is really a big issue now. Racism and discrimination at its height. They way you treat people that’s how you will be treated outside state. Thankfully I don’t live at Shillong no more cus they have problems always even there is no reason they blame Non tribals.
