The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has demanded the state government to provide scholarship to young aspirants from the state for taking coaching to appear for the various civil service examinations conducted by the UPSC.

In a statement issued on Sunday, secretary of the HYC education cell Enlang Sawian said, “We demand the state government to provide scholarship for our local youths who are aspiring to appear for the various UPSC examination so that they can enroll themselves in good coaching centres.”

He said it is a matter of concern as there is very less people from the state who could pass the civil service examinations like IAS, IPS, IFS and others.

This is because those who wanted to compete in such examinations also cannot afford to go to reputed coaching centres.

Meanwhile, the HYC also suggested the education department to implement the NCERT syllabus for MBOSE students from class 7 to 12, without affecting the MIL subject.

This will help students to a great extent for preparing themselves for such competitive examinations in the future, Sawian asserted
