Concerned over the pollution of Myrkein stream, which is the source of Amlarem Water Supply Scheme from various human activities.

These activities led to high concentration of contaminants and detergents in the water source thereby posing a high risk to the entire population of Amlarem village who depend on this water supply.

The contaminants vary over the year and the water treatment plant cannot take up the load of these contaminants especially during the lean period or winter season.

In order to prevent further pollution of the stream the In-charge Sub Divisional Magistrate Amlarem on Monday imposed Section 144 Cr.PC prohibiting washing of clothes, utensils etc. at the source and the upper reaches of the river.

The order prohibit the public against washing of vehicles at the source and the upper reaches of the river

It also prohibits the public against washing up along the banks of the Myrkein stream and against dumping of garbage.
