Huge cache of ammunition including anti-craft unearthed in East Garo Hills

Acting on intelligence inputs, Meghalaya Police unearthed a huge cache of ammunition from a dense forest in East Garo Hills District on the morning of June 24, 2025 after nearly three hours of operation.
Police said that police team from Williamnagar and Rongjeng Police Station, East Garo Hills led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Williamnagar conducted a search operation in a thick jungle near Chikama village under Rongjeng Police Station from 11:30 PM of June 23, 2025 to 2 AM of June 24 2025.
Police said that at approximately 2:00 AM on 24th June, 2025, the team unearthed a cache of arms and ammunition buried in the jungle near Chikama village.
Police informed that the recovered items include 1 (one) country-made pistol, 212 nos. of suspected live AK ammunition, 22 nos. of suspected anti-aircraft ammunition, 13 nos. of damaged anti-aircraft ammunition without pellets, 11 nos. of loose pellets and 52 (Fifty-two) nos. of 6.5 mm live ammunition.
Police said that the recovered items were seized at the spot in the presence of witnesses while adding further investigation is on.
