The PA Sangma International Medical College and Hospital (PIMC) at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) commemorated the 9th death anniversary of the legendary leader PA Sangma on Tuesday with a heartfelt floral tribute and inspiring speeches.

The solemn event saw the presence of distinguished academicians and medical professionals, including USTM Vice-Chancellor Prof. GD Sharma, Padma Shri  Dr. Sarbeswar Sahariah, PIMC Principal Prof. Dr. Abhinandan Das, Advisor Dr. RK Sharma, and Director of Medical Education & Research Dr. Jogesh Sharma. Faculty members, students, and staff also gathered to honour the memory of the former Lok Sabha Speaker and Meghalaya Chief Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. GD Sharma reflected on PA Sangma’s monumental contributions to education, particularly his pivotal role in enacting the USTM Act in 2008. He described Sangma as a visionary leader dedicated to empowering young minds.

“PA Sangma was a guiding force for USTM and a firm believer in the power of education. His unwavering support helped shape this institution into a beacon of learning in Meghalaya,” Prof. Sharma added.

He also extended appreciation to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and his team for their continued commitment to strengthening higher education in the state.

The commemoration was not just a tribute but also a renewed commitment to Sangma’s dream of an educated and empowered Meghalaya. His legacy inspires generations of students, educators, and leaders at USTM and beyond.
