The proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has accused the state police of allegedly harassing its ex-cadres, thereby compelling them to rejoin back the outfit.

It also claimed that many youths who are in favor of the inner-line permit (ILP) have joined the outfit.

In a statement issued on Sunday, HNLC general secretary cum publicity secretary, Sainkupar Nongtraw said that one Junel Tongper, a former cadre, has rejoined the outfit along with few of his friends.

Stating the Tongper was arrested twice, Nongtraw alleged that the ex-cadre has been harrassed time and again by the police department by way of conducting searches at his residence and telling him to appeal at the police station whenever required.

“He (Tongper) did not maintain any more links with our council after his arrest, but due to the constant harrassment  of the police he was compelled to rejoin,” the HNLC leader said.
Also alleging that Tongper’s old cases were also re-opened, Nongtraw said opening up of old cases is nothing but just a torture stunt by the police, whereby one suffers injustices daily.

“It is not a matter of joke to manage the fees of the lawyer time and again.
Just because he was a member of the council before, it doesn’t mean that he can be implicated into any kind of case related to the HNLC,” he said.

Stating that this kind of  mental harrassment against the cadres and their family members is nothing new, as many of them bear testimony of such ill treatments, Nongtraw however demanded the state police to immediately stop this kind of harrassment towards its ex-cadres and their family members.

“The police department by committing such acts is indirectly strengthening our council, thereby compelling the frustrated cadres to rejoin. Many youths who are in favor of the ILP cause has joined us,” he said.

Meanwhile, the HNLC leader further stated that if any cadres are facing such kind of harrasment, they are welcom back into the arms of the HNLC.

“The HNLC welcomes anybody who is willing to undergo extreme hardships to serve the  Hynñiewtrep cause.

We do not assure money nor a luxurious life, all we can assure is a life worth living and sacrificing for our future generations to come,” Nongtraw added.

So he is worried about ex cadre investigation but what about those living at Shillong those Non tribals? Who were born there and lived all their life out there? They used to get tortured by KSU and harraased for no reason because they are non tribal. . I have been there before and faced same thing alling them dkhar, makhar and with many racist names. . But In reality the group calling other ugly is more uglier than the person they harassing. . And lastly now they are trying to shut down business of non tribals because of trading license no deadline given or notification simply shuttinf down their shops and businesses. . All these matter should be taken up to central government and to mainstream national media. . They want special status but don’t wanna give or share with others. . It’s unfair
