BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Friday stated it is high time for Assam and Meghalaya to come up with a permanent solution to end the age-old boundary disputes between the two states.

Speaking to media persons, Hek said that the inter-state boundary issue is being discussed at the level of the chief ministers of Assam and Meghalaya.

“However, it is time (for both the states) to come up with a permanent solution to put a stop to this issue,” he asserted.

According to him, this would to a great extent resolve the problems faced by people residing along the border for the past many years now.

“That is why we want to have a permanent solution to end this border dispute in the interest of the people from both the states,” he stated.

Six out of 12 areas of difference have been resolved so far and now the second phase of border talks between the two states are on for arriving at similar resolution in regards to remaining areas of dispute.
