Heroin, Yaba tablet worth Rs 115 crore seized in Karimganj

In a joint operation of Special Task Force (STF) and Karimganj Police led by IG Parthasarathi Mahanta and SP Partha Protim Das, a huge consignment of drugs was seized at Karimganj By Pass Puwamara under Karimganj Police Station in Assam’s Karimgaanj district on friday.

The seizure includes 3,50,000 Yaba tablets and 1.3 kgs of heroin (100 soap cases)

The consignment was concealed inside the secret chambers of 12 12-wheeler Ashok Leyland truck bearing registration number NL 01 AC 4764.

Four persons were apprehended in this connection. They have been identified as Noimul Haque (the main owner), his son Habib already in jail and the owner of the truck, ⁠Fuzail Ahmed, Atiqur Rahman @Atik (driver) and Jagajit Deb Barma @ Barman (co-driver).

The price of the consignment is 115 crores, IG Partha Sarathi Mahanta said.
