Heroin worth Rs 2 crore seized in Shillong

Heroin worth Rs 2 crore was seized from a Tata Sumo vehicle on Wednesday evening after it was abandoned by two passengers.

Informing this on Thursday, East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger said an alert Tata Sumo driver promptly informed the police about a suspicious bag that was left abandoned in his Tata Sumo vehicle by two passengers.

The said bag was checked at Madanrting Police station and recovered 21 soap boxes containing Heroin weighing 253.53 grams along with some clothes. The drugs seized are worth over Rs 2 Crore, he said.   

A case has been registered with the Madanrting police station and efforts are on to nab the involved culprits, the SP added.
