BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Friday reiterated that it is up to the party to decide on whether he should contest from Shillong parliamentary seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

He was responding to a query on the recent request made by the party legislator from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai for supporting the candidature of Dr Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait from Shillong seat.

“Every individual has their own opinion. So your opinion, his opinion or any you can give your opinion but the party will decide who will contest the election,” Hek told reporters.

“I have already told the party will decide. Whatever the party decides I will agree. It is for the party to decide. If the party decides who will contest, I will contest,” he added.

On February 27, Shullai had informed that he had visited Hek to discuss the matter on the need for both MLAs to appeal to party high command to nominate Dr Lyngdoh as candidate for the Shillong seat.
