BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Tuesday lauded the party’s decision to constitute the fact finding committee into alleged illegal coal mining in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Hek said, “I have not met BJP leaders in the state of Meghalaya for almost four-five months but I saw in the newspaper (about the party’s decision to constitute the fact finding committee). They are doing it for the good of the people so we have to appreciate that the party is taking up the issue.”

“Definitely, when we have already raised the issue for the benefit of the state and the people, the result should come up and justice for people of Meghalaya,” he said adding “It is not for the BJP to take a decision it is for the government to take a decision. We as a government will take the decision as per grievances of not only political parties but even the people also. The government will take a call on the grievances of the people.”
