    The District Magistrate Ri Bhoi District informed that information has been received that due to the age of the two nos Spillway Bridges (Main Dam bridge, Umiam), plying of heavy vehicles over the bridge may cause damages to the bridge.Further it might keep the life of the general public in jeopardy.

    The District Magistrate asserted it is necessary to prohibit the plying of heavy
    vehicles exceeding the permissible limit of 40 (forty) MT gross weight ie. total weigh of vehicles plus weigh of load.

    “In exercise of the power conferred under Section 144 Cr.P.C, I R.M. Kurbah, IAS, District Magistrate, Ri-Bhoi District, Nongpoh, do hereby prohibit the plying of heavy vehicles more than 4OMT over the Umiam Concrete Dam, Ri Bhoi District,” an order issued on Thursday said.

    This order shall come into force with immediate effect and until further orders.
