Heavy rainfall expected in the state

The Indian Meteorological Department informed on Tuesday that very heavy rainfall is likely to continue at many places over East Khasi Hills district with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Sohra and Mawsynram region of East Khasi Hills in next 24 hours.

Due to the downpour, citizens are advised to be cautious. 

Meanwhile, thunderstorm with lightning and heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely to continue at many places over East Jaintia Hills, SouthWest Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills in the next 24 hours. 

Following the lightning warning, citizens are advised to be cautious and to not take shelter under trees and avoid staying in vulnerable areas.
