Health condition of 22 students from Meghalaya improving: Team

The team from the education department on Wednesday informed that the health condition of the 22 students, who were hospitalized after the recent food poisoning incident in Karnataka, is improving except only one student is still in ICU but under stable condition.
An official statement said that the team has held meetings with the district administration of Mandya today.
In the first session we were part and parcel of the Review Meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Mandya District along with various stakeholders like Education Department, Child Welfare Committee that is the President and the Nodal Officers and the members, Juvenile Justice President, District Backwards Officer, Social Welfare Officers and Hostel Nodal Officers, Zila Panchayat Executive Officers or Chief Executive Officers along with the SP of Mandya District and other district officials, it said.
It may be noted that the decision being taken up the District Administration of Mandya was to rehabilitate the 22 students from Meghalaya to the Rehabilitation Center or Bala Mandir Center under the guidance of the Child Protection Officer once they are discharged from the hospital. Also these officers will also monitor the diet plan that would be given by the doctor.
The statement informed that another outcome of the meeting is that since this month is the final examinations of these students in their respective classes and to give them the opportunity to sit for the exam would be the priority of the district administration to oversee that they are able to give their examinations at the Bala Mandir Center itself.
”After the review meeting at DC Office, we were being informed that the Chairman of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights wants to have a brief interaction with the team from Meghalaya followed by the joint site inspection to the school where the untoward incident occurred,” the team from the education said.
After the site inspection was completed the Chairman of the KSC for protection of child right visited the hospital where these students are being treated along with the DC of Mandya District and other officials, they informed.
On Tuesday, the team had met the District Administration and sought their assistance in terms of providing us the progress on the case and the measures and steps taken to ensure effective enquiry is conducted, which they have agreed to give the report submitted to their government as well as the report on the arrest being made along with the FIR, the students list being affected, the food samples tested and any other additional information.
The ADC appointed the Deputy Director of School Education as a Nodal Officers to assist the team in this enquiry.
