    The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Health & Family Welfare Department, C&RD Department, District Legal Services Authority, East Khasi Hills and other stakeholders on Saturday organised a Health camp cum Awareness programme on NALSA (Effective Implementation of Poverty Alleviation) Scheme 2015 and Government Welfare Schemes under the theme: ‘Bridging the Gap’ at St Peter’s Secondary School, Dangar, East Khasi Hills District.

    Justice H S Thangkhiew, Judge High Court of Meghalaya and Executive Chairman, MSLSA attended the programme as Chief Guest.

    Speaking on the occasion, Justice HS Thangkhiew enlightened the gathering about the NALSA schemes. Expressing his satisfaction about the realisation of the programme, he lauded the various departments for taking keen interest in making the programme a success which will be beneficial for the general public at large. Justice Thangkhiew also urged the residents to come forward and assist people who are in need of judicial aid by enrolling themselves as Para-legal Volunteers; which are the first point of contact between the general public and the judiciary. He encouraged the gathering to take advantage of the programme and to visit various stalls put up by different departments and avail the services that are available to them.

    During the programme, the Chief Guest visited the stalls put up by different departments and also handed over assistive devices consisting of wheelchairs, hearing aids and walking sticks to the specially abled persons.
