  • HC directs NEIGRIHMS to submit Dorphang’s medical report

    The Meghalaya High Court has sought the medical report of the former Mawhati legislator, Julius Kitbok Dorphang, who was jailed for raping a 14-year-old girl.

    Hearing the bail application filed by Balajied Lang Dorphang on Wednesday, Justice W Diengdoh said, “Accordingly, the Medical Superintendent, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong is hereby directed to file a comprehensive medical report with the latest condition of the accused/UTP Shri. Julius Kitbok Dorphang on the next date fixed.”

    Earlier, K. Ch. Gautam, counsel for the petitioner who submits that at this juncture, prayer is made for calling of the medical report of the accused/UTP Julius Kitbok Dorphang from NEIGRIHMS, Shillong. R. Gurung, GA for the State respondent has no objection to the prayer made by the counsel for the petitioner.

    The next hearing will be held on November 11.

    Earlier, the High Court had rejected the bail applications of the former legislator.
