Guwahati Refinery boosts eye care access with high-end surgical system and patient transport for Sankaradeva Nethralaya

In a major boost to regional eye care, Guwahati Refinery has donated a Constellation Advanced Vitrectomy System and a Community Vehicle to Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
At a handover ceremony held at the hospital, Sunil Kanti, executive director and refinery head, Guwahati Refinery, officially presented the equipment in the presence of Dr. Harsha Bhattacharjee, president of Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, and Hitajit Bhattacharyya, CGM (HR), along with other senior officials.
The Constellation Vitrectomy System will significantly upgrade the hospital’s Vitreo-Retina Department, enabling advanced treatment for complex retinal diseases.
The Community Vehicle will transport eye patients—free of cost—from primary care centres across Assam to the base hospital in Guwahati for surgeries and treatment, and return them home post-care.
Officials from Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya expressed heartfelt thanks, emphasizing that the contribution will not only improve their diagnostic and surgical capacity but also expand their free outreach services for rural and economically disadvantaged communities.
