Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati has recorded a footfall of nearly 5,10,413 passengers in May this year witnessing a sharp increase from the corresponding month of last year which was 15% (494057) higher than the last year’s May.

Of them, 2.63 lakh were departed passengers, and the left were arrival travellers. On the contrary, the airport handled 3,554 scheduled flights in May.

The airport handled nearly 3,342 Hajj passengers in May this year, which is significantly lower than last year’s Hajj time. Last year the total departed Haj passengers was 5,790.

The top three domestic destinations are Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru from Guwahati.

Similarly, the four international destinations are Singapore, Paro, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

LGBIA chief airport officer Utpal Baruah said: “Guwahati airport is hopeful of consistent growth in this summer schedule starting from May. In this summer season, the rise of passengers will be sharpening. Now LGBIA expects a strong surge during the summer schedule season,”
