Greening with grit: Daring Pathfinders ignite eco-spirit in Pesamhuru on World Environment Day

In a bold celebration of World Environment Day, Daring Pathfinders lit up the village of Pesamhuru with a series of hands-on, eco-driven initiatives under their flagship project, BASTAV – Bring a Step to a Village.
Marking their fourth year of grassroots work in the village, the organisation launched its signature Mission Fruit campaign by distributing 600 fruit saplings to 40 households, thereby boosting both green cover and local self-reliance. The sapling distribution sparked a village-wide plantation drive, where over 80 villagers enthusiastically got their hands dirty for a greener tomorrow.
The day wasn’t just about planting trees—it was about cultivating awareness. Children took part in a vibrant art competition, their colourful creations reflecting themes of sustainability and nature protection. Meanwhile, the adults channelled their creativity into a bamboo dustbin-making contest, underscoring the village’s commitment to ditching plastic and embracing eco-friendly living.

Speaking at the event, Hriday Jyoti Ojha, CEO of Daring Pathfinders, praised the collaborative spirit that made the day a success. He extended special thanks to the environmental organization AARANYAK and conservationist Dr. Purnima Devi Barman for their support.
“This initiative proves that when a community comes together, sustainability isn’t a dream—it’s a reality in the making,” Ojha said.
Kirtiman Borah, General Secretary of the group, highlighted their sustained efforts in Pesamhuru over the years and lauded the villagers for their energy and ownership in the cause.
The event ended on a strong note of unity, with all participants pledging to continue driving change—and turning Pesamhuru into a model of grassroots environmental action.
