Govt to take ADCs consent before implementing decision: Cyril

Commissioner & Secretary Cyril Diengdoh on Friday said the government will soon notify the three sub-committees to engage with the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) regarding its proposal to provide financial support, including payment of salaries, conditional on financial reforms.
According to Diengdoh, the committees will consult with the district councils and seek their consent before implementing the decision.
“This is something which has to be done in consultation so please await once these committees are notified we will get to know because the terms of referrence would be very clear,” he told reporters.
The committees will engage with the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) over the next 45 days and submit a report to the state government.
Asked, Diengdoh said, “Because of the crisis that is happening now in some of the district councils, where salaries are pending for many months so government has taken a decision on how this can be resolved in consultation and only after getting the consent of ADCs. That is amply clear…”
