Govt to provide financial assistance to poor prisoners for getting bail

The Meghalaya Governor has notified the implementation of the Central Government “Scheme to provide financial assistance to poor prisoners to pay fine and secure bail” in the State of Meghalaya.

The notification was issued vide No.PDS.26/2023/9 Dated 21st September, 2023.

The notification informed that the criteria for eligibility under the Scheme are one should be a citizen of India and must come from a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family.

The benefit will not be available to persons who are accused of offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Prevention of Money Laundering Act, NDPS Act or Unlawful Activities Prevention Act or any other Act or provisions, as may be specified later.
