The state government has directed the district administration of East Khasi Hills to file additional FIRs against another four persons, who had attended the wedding party at Greenwood Resort in Assam and violated the COVID-19 protocols.

“Instructions have been issued to both the Deputy Commissioners of East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi to immediately complete the filing of the FIRs against the violators,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters after a daily review meeting held on Tuesday.

He informed that the decision was taken after discussion on the inquiry reports of the two deputy commissioners, in which another four persons were found to have also attended the wedding party at Khanapara.

“With this, a total of 47 persons had attended the wedding party which includes 39 from East Khasi Hills and 8 from Ri Bhoi,” Tynsong said.

According to him, FIRs against 35 persons from Shillong have been filed so far.

Stating that the inquiry into the wedding incident is ongoing, the deputy chief minister further stated, “If there are more people involved, FIR will also be filed against them.”
