Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma informed on Monday that the department has decided to issue the advertisement notification on July 14, for recruitment of over 1,200 teachers in the government lower primary schools across the state.

“Advertisement for recruiting over 1,200 plus teachers will be out for all candidates who have cleared the Meghalaya Teachers’ Eligibility Test (MTET) in the state,” he said.

Sangma said that the department will try to finish the process within two months’ time. “We will even try to finish it within August 15 but we will try to complete the process within the next two months,” he added.

With regards to the over 18,000 untrained teachers in Meghalaya, the education minister said that the issue was also discussed during the recent meeting with the union minister of human resource development Ramesh Pokriyal in New Delhi.
