The state government has sanctioned women police stations in eleven districts of the state.

This was informed by the Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui in the Assembly on Wednesday while replying to a query raised by Mawlai legislator PT Sawkmie.

He said the women police stations were sanctioned in 2018.

“(However), for the 12th district of Eastern West Khasi Hills, the proposal will be done in due course of time,” Rymbui said.

When Umroi legislator George B Lyngdoh wanted to know if the government is making effort to ensure there is convergence between the home department and social welfare department for victims looking for psychological and legal aid, the minister replied that the government is providing help wherever it is needed.
