The state government has come up with standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15, to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The order was issued by Chief Secretary MS Rao on August 4.

It said that only fully vaccinated personnel from the central paramilitary forces, state police, home guards will be allowed to take part in the march past during the state level function at Shillong city.

The Health and Family Welfare department has been asked to conduct RT-PCR testing for the contingents, four days prior to Independence Day.

The order also informed that villages and localities that have achieved 100 percent vaccination coverage will be felicitated during the celebration.

Thermal screening and social distancing protocols are to be observed.

All deputy commissioners and sub divisional officers are also asked to make necessary arrangements for the respective district and sub divisional level functions.
