The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved the amendment of the Meghalaya Education Research and Training Service Rules, 2012.

After the meeting, Cabinet Minister James K Sangma said the services of the officers or lecturers of the Directorate of Educational Research & Training (DERT) and Principal and lecturers of the District Institute of Educational Training (DIETs) are combined under the Meghalaya Education Research & Training Service Rules, 2012 for upward movement of service.

“Today, this was brought to the cabinet to bring about an amendment for re-designation of the following posts or grades namely lecturer to assistant professor grade-II, senior lecturer to assistant professor grade-I and selection grade lecturer to associate professor,” he said.

“This has been necessitated as the terminology of lecturer, senior lecturer, selection grade lecturer have become obsolete in other states,” the minister said while informing that the matter was discussed and approved by the cabinet.
