Govt awaits defence ministry’s reply on land for Harijan families: Tynsong

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday informed that the state government is still waiting for the response from the defence ministry on the request for allotment of land for relocation of the 342 families of Harijan colony from Them Iew Mawlong.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said that the meeting chaired by him on the issue was inconclusive.
“Right now the meeting is inconclusive so I will not be able to tell you what exactly.”
Asked, the deputy CM informed that the meeting also discussed the government’s request for allotment of unutilized defence land for relocation of the Harijan families. Accordingly, the government is still waiting for the reply from the defence ministry on the matter.
“Yes, infact we discussed this issue also and now we are awaiting the communication from government of India through the defence ministry as letter has been sent to the defence ministry and we are yet to get the communication from them because in fact, we requested the government of India through the defence ministry if they can give us or provide us that space, which is lying unutilized in the defence area, I think nothing like it,” he said.
“Right now, the commissioner and secretary of Urban Affairs is in touch with the ministry of defence and hopefully we will get the communication very soon,” Tynsong added.
