The state government has asked all citizens, who have visited the two Guwahati-based medical institutions, to immediately register through the 108 helpline.

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Saturday that this was after a doctor was tested positive for COVID-19 at Guwahati Medical College and another succumbed to the disease at the Dr B Burma Cancer Institute, Guwahati on May 7.

He said that this was informed by the Assam government in case some patients and visitors from Meghalaya have visited the two institutions recently.

“In view of this, all citizens who may have visited the two medical institutions with effect from April 23, are requested to call up 108 and register so that necessary instruction can be given to them,” Tynsong said.

Urging them not to panic, the Deputy CM assured that the government will take care of them.
