The state government has decided to implement recommendations of the 2nd National Judicial Pay Commission in the state.

The decision was made by the Cabinet during a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday.

“The views of finance and personnel (departments) were sort, placed and made known to the members of the cabinet. We have taken up this matter and the cabinet has given its approval for implementing the 2nd National Judicial Pay Commission,” Cabinet Minister James K Sangma told reporters.

He said the decision was based on the direction issued by the Supreme Court.

The minister informed that the Government of India had notified the 2nd National Judicial Pay Commission on November 16, 2017.

The terms of reference of these recommendations were to evolve the principles which will govern the structure of pay and other emoluments of judicial officers, to examine the existing structure of emoluments and conditions of service and to make recommendations including post-retirement benefits, to examine the work methods and the work environment as also the variety of allowances and benefits and to suggest rationalization, he added.
