God’s Glory English School inaugurated at Moowamon, Mihmyntdu

A new educational institution, God’s Glory English School, was formally inaugurated on Saturday at Moowamon, Mihmyntdu, opposite the DTO office, Jowai. The school, founded by Kong Shimti Shylla, was opened by State Minister and Khliehriat MLA, Kyrmen Shylla, during a public function held at the school premises.
Deputy Chairman of JHADC, Wailaddame Shwa Siangshai, attended the programme as Guest of Honour, along with MDCs Rikut N. Parien and Gresentus Susngi, Chief Adviser Dr. Prince Stone Shylla, and several community leaders.
Chairman of the school, Piwell Shylla, informed that the Joint Director of School Education & Literacy, Government of Meghalaya, has granted permission for classes from Tiny Tots up to Class V. Admissions for the academic year 2026 will open on September 8.
In his address, Minister Kyrmen Shylla congratulated the founders and urged them to remain patient and committed. “One cannot reap the fruits immediately after planting. Dedication and hard work will bring results over time,” he said. He added that while he once aspired to establish a school himself, his priorities changed after becoming a public representative, focusing instead on supporting existing institutions.
Highlighting the role of collaboration, Shylla said that schools in East Jaintia Hills facing difficulties can now seek assistance through the DMF Fund with the support of both MLAs and the Deputy Commissioner. As a gesture of support, he announced the donation of five computers to God’s Glory English School to strengthen digital education.
Guest of Honour, Wailaddame Shwa Siangshai, noted that the school would not only impart academic knowledge but also instill discipline and values among children. He likened the school to a seed that, though unseen at first, will grow steadily with time and eventually bear fruit for the entire Jaintia community.
MDC Rikut N. Parien commended the founders for working selflessly for the community’s welfare rather than personal gain, while MDC Gresentus Susngi expressed hope that the school would ease access to quality education in the area and serve students with moral values and faith.
The inaugural programme concluded with Minister Shylla cutting the ribbon to formally declare the school open.
