    Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Sunday said the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council is a test for the National People’s Party-led MDA government.Addressing an election rally held at Phulbari, Sangma said, “The ensuing election is a test for the government, whether it has been able to meet the expectations of the people and the promises made in 2018 general election.” 

    He said that the GHADC election is very important as people are getting the opportunity to give their feedback on the performance of the ruling govt.

    The Chief Minister also told the gathering that NPP led government had managed to restore peace in Garo Hills, which had enabled the government to consistently work for inclusive growth and development in the state.

    Massive crowd turn out at Phulbari at an election rally for GHADC which was attended by CM & national president Conrad K Sangma. 

    Over 10 thousand plus people were present at a playground near Phulbari Market, where late Manirul Islam Sarkar, former cabinet minister of Meghalaya’s son  Tarif Ibrahim Sarkar is contesting from Shyamnagar GHADC constituency. 

    Speaking at the rally, various political and community leaders spoke at length on different interventions taken by the NPP led government. 

    Local MLA Esmatur Mominin praised CM Conrad K Sangma for sanctioning various road projects in plain belt area of West Garo Hills, including the ongoing Agia – Tikrikilla, Phulbari- Tura road. 

    NPP candidate Tarif Ibrahim Sarkar promised to continue the legacy of his late father and to work for the overall development in the plain belt area.
