Gathering of 5 or more persons prohibited within the vicinity of DC Office Jowai

District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District BS Sohliya, IAS has prohibited public gatherings of more than 05 (five) person within 100 metres in and around Deputy commissioner’s Compound.

The prohibitory order issued under Section 144 CrPC after more than five (5) people in inebriated state gathered in around Deputy Commissioner’s office compound, Jowai on Thursday night.

Further, these groups of people are openly threatening to harm District Officials and to destroy Government Property.

There is an apprehension that these group of people will grow in numbers and possibly marched towards Deputy Commissioner’s compound, Jowai, the order asserted.

The order said possibility of violence may happen and intensify if left unattended and may result in arson and destruction of property and a possibility of a loss of lives.
