Ironically, the Meghalaya Govt banned all forms of gathering on January 3rd, last when the total active COVID-19 cases in the State was 73 but on Tuesday the Govt revoked the ban when the total active COVID-19 cases is 2075.

This is evident from the notification issued by the Home (Political) Department.

The notification read “in partial modification of Order No.POL.75/2020/Pt.1/116, dated 3rd January, 2022, all gatherings/ events/ meetings including weddings, funerals are permitted subject to prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) concerned and subject to strict adherence to Covid protocols including the capacity of the venue.”

The order issued on 3rd January, last read “all official/public/political gatherings are hereby prohibited however, weddings are permitted at 50% of the capacity in an enclosed space and maximum of 100 persons for unenclosed/open space.”
