  • Gang of five murderers escaped from Jowai Jail after assaulting jail staff

    A gang of six dreaded criminals of Jaintia Hills region must have hatched the steps by steps plan over the past few days to escape from the four walls of the District Jail, Jowai as they successfully executed the plan and they are still at large for the past several hours.

    The gang chosed the tea break as the time of execution of their do or die plan. At around 1pm on Saturday afternoon, a staff of the District Jail entered their cell for serving them tea and immediately assualted him  and successfully executed the first part of their plans.

    The gang then attacked the jail staff at the second gate and unlock the gate and reached the office area of the jail.

    The armed police man on duty saw them escaping and shoot in the air to warn them but this did not deter them as they were hell bent to escape.

    They attacked the police man with all their might and even stabbed him on his head and fled away making their plans a grand success.

    Police said at around 2:00 PM, information was received from the Superintendent of District Prison & Correctional Services Jowai that 5 UTPs & 1 Convict had escaped from the District Prison Jowai after assaulting the security personnel & District Prison Warder who were on duty.

    The gang are I Love You Talang and Ramesh Dkhar lodged for Jowai PS Case No. 107(8)2022 u/s 363/120B/364/394/302/201/34 IPC and Jowai PS Case No. 106(8)2022 u/s 363/120 B/364/394/302/201/34 IPC.

    Lodestar Tang under trial for Jowai PS Case No. 19(2)2021 u/s 363/392 IPC and Khliehriat PS Case No. 5(1)2022 u/s 302/34 IPC

    Shidorki Dkhar awaiting trial for Jowai PS Case No. 85(8)2021 u/s 364/302/34 IPC and Khliehriat PS Case No. 05(1)2022 u/s 302/34 IPC

    Marsanki Tariang convicted u/s 302 IPC (murder) and Rikmenlang Lamare under trial for Nartiang PS Case No. 26(6)2022 u/s 380/34 IPC
