Gambegre bye-poll a must win election for Congress: Pala

Congress chief and former Shillong MP Vincent H Pala on Saturday said the upcoming bye-election to the Gambegre Assembly seat is a ‘must win’ election for the party. 

Speaking to reporters, Pala said the party has called for application from aspiring candidates and has decided to entrust the Tura MP Saleng A Sangma, who is former legislator of Gambegre, to ensure victory to the party in the upcoming bye-poll.

“We will entrust our MP to make our candidate win and definitely he has the say to whom we want to give a ticket and we will definitely support,” he said.

Stating that this is a must win election for the Congress, Pala said Saleng has to win this election since Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is fielding his wife from NPP, former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma is putting up his sister-in-law and Zenith’s wife from TMC.

“So it’s one of the most interesting election in Garo Hills this time as all the big leaders, chief minister, ex-chief minister and future chief minister will be contesting this time,” he said.
