  • Four MPS officers of 2004 batch elevated as IPS officers

    Four senior police officers of Meghalaya have been elevated from Meghalaya Police Service cadre to the Indian Police Service cadre as per notification issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.

    The notification read in exercise of the provisions contained in sub-regulation (3) of Regulation 7 of the Indian Police Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955, the Union Public Service Commission, on 12.02.2024 has approved the Select List of the year 2022 prepared by the Selection Committee in its meeting held on 20.12.2023 for the four MPS officers towards filling up of 04 substantive vacancies in the Assam-Meghalaya Joint Cadre (Meghalaya Segment) of Indian Police Service.

    The four MPS officers elevated as IPS officers are Maxwell Balahun Syiem, Lakador Syiem, Bobby Sengjrang W. Momin and Goldenbert Dean Kharwanlang.

    The four newly elevated IPS officers belonged to the 2004 batch where three of their batch mates namely H G Lyngdoh, Gnora Mary Sangma and Vivek Syiem were already elevated as IPS officers few years back while another 15 more are still continuing as MPS officers.
