  • FMA- OUWC celebrates International Women’s Day

    On Monday, the International Women’s Day celebration organised by FMA – Outreach Under Privilege Women and Children was held at Auxilium Secondary School, Saphai, West Jaintia Hills District Meghalaya.

    The day’s event started with the opening prayer ceremony guided by Sr Anita Dhar- Assistant Headmistress, followed by words of welcome to the Chief Guest Mr Anthony Bareh- the local Headman, former local Headmen- Mr No Four Dkhar, Mr Reformwell Biam respectively, other local invitees including the trainees of Auxilium Eri- Training centre Saphai, Salesian cooperators, the President of Jaintia Students Union Saphai unit, Teachers and well-wishers.

    In her welcome speech Sr. Rufina Suting highlighted, in essence, the importance and uniqueness of the said gathering and the Chief Guest, in his speech, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation for the valiant contribution made by the local women organization of Saphai.

    The former Headman said, “the sincere woman is the crown of her beloved husband because she sacrifices herself for his well being and their family, putting love at the centre in everything she does“. While Mr Reformwell Biam mentioned, “the nobility of the mother who never shown unpleasant gestures to children in spite of the aches she is undergoing“.

    Lastly, the Headmistress Sr. Stella Mary Pasi, in her concluding speech summarized the important points mentioned by all the speakers of the day’s function and invited everyone to imbibe the networking spirit of love and collaboration for the welfare of our society irrespective of denominations and cultural traditions drawing the inspiration from the personality of Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, who fought back the Taliban with words for her and other millions of little girl education.

    The Chairman of the day’s celebration was Sr. Lucy Sangriang, in charge of Auxilium Eri- Training centre Saphai, she together with Mrs Lucy Papang one of the first Teachers of Auxilium Eri- Training centre had done a wonderful job in empowering, motivating and inspiring women to be strong and help one another to grow maturely.
