    Following a report of heavy downpour of water from the hill top onto the road at National Highway-6 at Lumshnong, Khliehriat, all types of vehicular movement through that particular stretch are being prohibited with immediate effect till restorative works are completed.

    The order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia hills, mentioned that the road has become extremely vulnerable and its integrity is doubtful.

    In this regard, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is being directed to take up immediate restorative measures to ensure that the portion becomes traffic worthy. Light Motor Vehicles are being directed to take the route of the private road through the Star Cement campus.

    With the area reeling under flash floods, it has cut off commute to other states of the North East particularly, Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur and Assam.
