The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Rambrai Circle has demanded the state government to immediately repair the dilapidated Nongstoin -Rambrai road in West Khasi Hills, which has affected the people of the area.

“We urge the government to please repair this road since tender (for construction) has not been called,” FKJGP-RC president Jitstarlan Lyngkhoi said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.

He informed that the leaders of the Rambrai Circle and Mawlieh Area Unit had recently conducted an inspection of the Nongstoin-Rambrai road and found that the road is in a pathetic condition.

“Especially just ahead of the Mawrusyiar the road as we can say that it doesn’t look like PWD road but some kutcha forest road,” Lyngkhoi said.

“No concerned authority cares about this road and most of the time vehicles got stuck on this road, many of the passengers especially the sick and pregnant mothers faced a big problem and it also pose a big threat to their lives,” he further added.

The Federation has request the executive engineer PWD (Road) Nongstoin Division to look into this matter by repairing the road for the time being especially the slope at Mawrusyiar.

“(We also) request the local MLA of Rambrai constituency Kimfa Marbaniang and local MDC of Rambrai constituency Bajop Pyngrope to intervene and take up this matter with the government,” Lyngkhoi said.
