At least five persons including a 7-year old child were tested positive for COVID-19 at the Shillong Civil Hospital.

Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said that these cases were detected during tracing the high risk contacts of a senior doctor of the Shillong civil hospital, who was tested positive for COVID-19 recently.

He informed that a 7-year-old child and his father were among those tested positive for coronavirus while the others include a staff nurse, a lab technician, and an attendant.

“All the patients have been quarantined and tracing their contacts have also been done,” he added.

It may be mentioned here that the senior Anaesthesiologist at Shillong Civil Hospital had contracted the infection after treating a patient, who recently passed away at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS).
