Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Amlarem Civil Sub-Division, Abhinav Kumar Singh, has issued order prohibiting any person, organization, etc., from fishing indulging in, or resorting to the act of poisoning and using dynamite in rivers, streams, or any other water bodies with the explicit or implicit intention to cause widespread/large-scale destruction of aquatic life within the Amlarem Sub-Division.

The orders also banned washing of vehicles along the riverside.

The order was issued after receiving reports that large-scale poisoning and the use of dynamite in rivers, streams, and other water bodies are taking place within the Amlarem Sub-Division.

The order states that such methods of mass destruction of aquatic bodies have endangered the local, indigenous fish population, flora, and fauna besides undermining the local ecology. The unrelenting practice of the clandestine or traditional convention of poisoning water bodies has resulted in an unprecedented law and order situation within the Amlarem Sub-Division.

The order comes into force with immediate effect until further notice.
