    The Department of Fisheries, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with the National Fisheries Development Board, organized an awareness campaign on various schemes under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India.

    The event took place on 9th December 2024 at the Directorate of Fisheries in Shillong, Meghalaya.

    AL Mawlong, MCS, Director of Fisheries, Meghalaya, inaugurated the campaign, expressing appreciation for the efforts of the Department of Fisheries, Government of India, and the National Fisheries Development Board. Mawlong encouraged participants to enhance fish production in the state by taking advantage of various schemes like PMMSY, PMMKSSY, FIDF, KCC, Entrepreneurship model, Aquaculture Insurance, and GAIS.

    AK Borah, OIC, NFDB NERC, welcomed the participants and outlined the objectives of the event. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Das, Principal Scientist, ICAR RC NEH, Umiam, Meghalaya, and Dr. Simaku Borah, Scientist, ICAR CIFRI, Guwahati, interacted with the trainees, providing valuable technical guidance on various aspects of fisheries and aquaculture development in the state.

    The event was attended by 50 participants, including officials from NIFPHATT, CIFNET, NFDB, State Fisheries Department, fish farmers, representatives from FFPOs, fisheries cooperative societies, and women farmers.

      High time we take care of our illtreated rivers in the sence let them not be where we dump everything night soil to whatever let each locality adopt the stretch of d river in it’s jurisdiction n let d rivers n rivulets ripple again. D fishes too will start regenerating again n let d fishes fill d rejuvenating rivers like vehicles choke d streets of Shillong
