    The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) on Friday passed the budget for the financial year 2024-25 of the first ever extended term of MDC.

    Notably, the JHADC was established in 1964 by the then Assam Government by bifurcation of the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council and in its sixty years of existence this is the first time that the term of the MDC was extended by the Meghalaya Government.

    The budget passed by the NPP led Executive Committee under the leadership of Chief Executive Member Thombor Shiwat is a deficit one for the sixth consecutive financial years.

    JHADC chief tables a Rs 13.59 Cr deficit budget for 2024-25, assures to provide effective administration

    Shiwat placed the budget estimate of receipt and expenditure on the opening day of the budget session on Thursday where the estimated receipt is Rs. 204,63,23,500 and the estimated expenditure is Rs. 218,22,60,300 resulting in a difference of Rs. 13,59,36,800 between the receipt and expenditure or in short a deficit budget.
