An FIR on Friday was lodged against four persons for allegedly trying to cause communal disturbances and social disharmony in the state.

The complaint was filed by a freelance columnist & political observer, Dominic S Wankhar and social worker, Joannes Lamare with the East Khasi Hills SP, Sylvester Nongtnger.

The FIR said the four persons namely Vicky Dey, Prantsuh Sarkar, Mridul Das and Binayak Roy have been circulating false statements and information in the media and other social media platforms to cause serious breach of social trust and to the extent of misleading the Governor of Meghalaya and the Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi.

“A video posted by one Vicky Dey, a resident of Shillong has falsely accused, vilified, instigated and communalized internal matters of the state with the intention to cause communal disturbances and social disharmony is highly condemnable and reprehensible. Such acts speak volumes of his cowardice of not daring for an open deliberation and discussion. The incident of Ichamati is being brought out again and again by these four persons with the intention to create social disturbance in the state during the festive season,” it said.

It further alleged that Prantsuh, Mridul and Binayak have tried to create social disharmony and instigating others with their unfounded truth and statements made to the Governor.

“It is to be noted that such acts and statements given by these said individuals is condemnable in no uncertain terms and deserve to be taken to task for defaming the current state government, the KHADC, our state police and us the local community with their incendiary laced words,” the FIR said while requesting action be taken against the persons under relevant sections of the law.
