    The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jaintia Hills in association with the office of Agricultural Technology Management Agency(ATMA), West Jaintia Hills organized the ‘Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari’ campaign under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on Tuesday at  KVK Campus Wahiajier.

    Dr. D. Pasweth, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Jaintia Hills highlighted the achievements made in the farm sector since independence and also create awareness about the various programmes run by the Central and State Government  for the benefits of farmers.

    S. Syngkon, Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), West Jaintia Hills delivered a speech on  PM Kisan Schemes and also talk about the importance of Farmer’s ID for availing Government Schemes.

    A cash award was also handed over to Foster Kharsahnoh a progressive farmer from Sohphoh Village of Thadlaskein Block by L Lakiang, PD, ATMA West Jaintia Hills for his achievement in Mushroom production, Poultry farming, Pig farming and vegetables cultivation.

    Training and Farmer Scientist interaction was also undertaken by H. Papang, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection) and B. Kharbamon, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) on Natural Farming, Orchard Management in fruit trees, role of bio agent in agriculture for controlling pest and diseases.

    There was also Showcasing and demonstration of various Agriculture equipment such as Portable Solar Dryer, Power operated Maize Sheller, Pedal Paddy Thresher, Hand Hoe and Manual Seeder. Maize and Vegetables Seeds were also distributed to the farmers. Altogether, 94 participants attended the programme which includes Farmers and Farm women besides the officials of the organizing departments.
